Athlete Showcase: Niles’ Caitlin Daly

Caitlin Daly is a sophomore on the Niles girls basketball team.

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

CD: Being named first-team all-conference as a

freshman.

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

CD: Losing in the district final last year in

softball.

What has been a hardship in your life?

CD: I recently had to put down my dog.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

CD: My parents. They are who I strive to be as a person.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

CD: Before the first game of a season.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

CD: I tried making a basket for the wrong team in one of my first games.

How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?

CD: By running and taking batting practice.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

CD: Lacrosse.

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

CD: Because they let me meet new people.

How would you give away $50,000?

CD: I would give it to a foundation to help endangered animals.

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

CD: The Washington Huskies softball coach.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

CD: Watch Netflix all day.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

CD: Go hard all game.

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

CD: Fouls.

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

CD: Cliff diving in Hawaii. Yes.

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

CD: How selfless my brother is all the time.

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

CD: Playing sports. That is all I do.
