Nov. 12, 1953 — March 18, 2017

Robert F. Godfrey, 63 of Cassopolis, and Carmel, Indiana, died peacefully Saturday, March 18, 2017, at his residence, in the comfort of his family’s presence.

He was born Nov. 12, 1953, in Detroit, the only son of four children born to Robert E. and Marian Godfrey.

He married Janeen Kay Gore on Aug. 24, 1974, in Cassopolis. She survives.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Bob graduated from Michigan State University and practiced accounting as a CPA in Michigan and Indiana. He enjoyed his summers on Diamond Lake, where he was a longtime member of the Diamond Lake Yacht Club.

Bob will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of more than 42 years, Janeen K. Godfrey; one daughter, Dr. Jenna (Jon Hussey) Godfrey Hussey Ph.D.; one son, Dr. David (Stacie) Godfrey M.D.; three grandsons, Jackson Godfrey, Spencer Godfrey and Ethan Hussey, and one more grandson on the way; his mother, Marian Godfrey; three sisters, Margaret (Steven) Hamel, Terry (Jonas) Berzanskis and Marian Lamberson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will observe a private remembrance.

The family prefers contributions in Bob’s memory be made to either the Michigan Gateway Community Foundation for the DLYC YMCA Swim Scholarship, 111 Days Ave., Buchanan, MI 49017, or to the Cass County Council on Aging, P.O. Box 5, Cassopolis, MI 49031.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals in Cassopolis.
