No one hurt Friday school bus collision

A Niles Community School District bus and a SUV collided Friday morning on M-60 near Pine Lake Street in Howard Township, according to a release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
The Sheriff’s office investigated the two vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m.
The crash happened when an SUV, driven by Morgan R. Cabanaw, 20, of Niles, was traveling east on M-60 when Cabanaw lost control. Cabanaw travelled into the path of the school bus, which was not able to avoid Cabanaw’s vehicle.
Cabanaw was not hurt in the crash and was wearing her seatbelt.
The school bus was traveling west on M-60, and was driven by Rose A. Clemans, 58, of Niles. Clemans had 28 students onboard when the crash occurred.
Clemans was wearing a seatbelt and did not suffer any injury. The students on the bus were not injured in the crash.
Niles school staff helped to transfer students to a second bus.
Alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash, the release said.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Niles school district staff and administration.
