Niles dominates All-Southwest Michigan team

Niles dominated the All-Southwest Michigan Wrestling Team, which was released Friday.

The Vikings, who reached the Division 2 state semifinals before falling to No. 2-ranked Warren Woods-Tower, placed four wrestlers on the first team.

Lakeshore had three players on the first team and Paw Paw two.

The team is selected by the coaches from throughout southwest Michigan.

First team selections for the Vikings were Austin Franco (119), Andrew Flick (125), Brenden Hall (135) and Mitchell Findeisen (145).

Niles also had Davin Simpson (160) on the second team and Ryan Franco (112), Cade Stephenson (119), Cole Simpson (140), Robert Glover (152), Dayton Simpson (171) and Cody Glick (189) named honorable mention.

Edwardsburg landed a trio of wrestlers on the second team — Josh McMann (140), Patrick Snyder (145) and Austin Cline (189).

Honorable mention picks for the Eddies were Jacob Reece (103), Darek Hess (135), Nick Bradley (152), Jacob Andrina (160) and Joe Hess (189).

Dowagiac’s Kody Walker was a second team selection at 112 pounds.

Caleb Murphy earned honorable mention status at 189 pounds.

Cassopolis’ Dylan Green was an honorable mention pick at 140.
