F&V Operations, in accordance with Michigan Act 451, Public Acts of 1994, as amended, Part 31, Section 324.3112a, reports that an uncontrolled discharge of approximately 4,000 gallons of raw wastewater was released from the Dowagiac wastewater treatment plant Friday morning.

The release was due to a power outage and failed sluice gate valve, which resulted in a release that was believed to have impacted the surface water of the Dowagiac Creek. The discharge occurred between 7:30 and 8:50 a.m.

About half the waster was absorbed by the ground.
