Dock to be inducted into hall of fame March 25

Former Dowagiac coach Denny Dock will be inducted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame March 25.

Dock, who coached in Dowagiac from 1974 through 1980 and again from 1984 through 1987, will be one of 14 honorees at the banquet at the Sheraton Ann Arbor Hotel.

After leaving Dowagiac, Dock coached at Lakeshore for 26 years before retiring in 2013.

Dock was 31-7 in four seasons as head coach at Dowagiac, which included a playoff appearance in 1985 when the Chieftains had their first undefeated season since 1959.

At Hartford, where he coached for two years, he went 23-5 with a playoff appearance.

In his 26 years at the helm of the Lakeshore program. Dock posted a record of 209-64 with 18 playoff appearances, including each year from 1998 until his retirement.

The Lancers reached the state semifinals in his last season as coach.

His 263 career wins has him 19th on the all-time list in the state of Michigan.

Dock remains the Lakeshore softball coach.

He also coached softball at Dowagiac where he led the school to its first district championship.

He has led the Lancers to seven state championships and was inducted into the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in in 2013.
