AUBURN HILLS — Andrew Flick became Niles’ first four-time state placer as he finished fifth in the Michigan High school Athletic Association Division 2 state finals at The Palace of Auburn Hills Saturday.

Flick was defeated by St. John’s Kyle French in the 125 pound fifth-place match by way of pin.

The Vikings’ Austin Franco is now a three-time state place after he was defeated in the state championship match 6-3 by undefeated Branson Proudlock.

Franco was second in the state as a freshman and third last year.

The only other area state placer was Dowagiac’s Kody Walker in Division 3.

Walker finished fifth after being pinned by Linden-Lake Fenton’s A.J. Geyer at 112 pounds.
