A joint investigation by members of drug taskforces in Cass and Van Buren counties resulted in the arrest of a suspected crack dealer in Dowagiac Wednesday, according to a release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Brooke Collins, 35, of Paw Paw, was charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, bringing contraband into a jail and possession of cocaine during her arraignment hearing in Cass County court Thursday afternoon. Collins’ bond was set at $10,000, on top of the $2,000 bond set by the original warrant out for her arrest.

Collins was arrested inside city limits Wednesday, after her vehicle was stopped by detectives with the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team. The officers were executing an existing narcotics warrant issued against her.

While in jail, Collins was found to be in possession of crack cocaine that she had hidden on herself. The amount of drug found on her was more than for her personal use, police said.
