Lakeview sweeps Niles in SMAC non-divisional games

The Niles boys and girls basketball team were defeated by Battle Creek Lakeview in SMAC non-divisional games Tuesday night.

The Vikings dropped a 73-41 decision to visiting girls basketball, while the Niles boys team was defeated by Battle Creek 65-57 on the road.

Lakeview grabbed a 17-7 first quarter lead in the girls game and never was challenge by the Vikings.

Niles trailed 34-17 at halftime and 55-36 heading into the fourth quarter.

Alycia Patterson led Niles with 12 points. She was the lone Viking to reach double figures.

Emily Eldridge led Lakeview and all scores with 19 points.

The Vikings wrap up the regular season at Stevensville Friday night against Lakeshore in a SMAC West contest.

The Niles boys team was outscored 13-7 in the final eight minutes at Battle Creek Lakeview Tuesday night.

After trailing 36-27 at the half, the Vikings cut the Lakeview lead to 52-50 heading to the fourth quarter.

Austin Curran had 12 points to lead Niles, which also got 11 points from Bryce Lake.

Jaylon Jonnson had a game-high 24 points for Lakeview.

The Vikings travel to Stevensville Friday night to face Lakeshore.
