BRIDGMAN — Visiting Brandywine swept a pair of BCS Athletic Conference Red Division basketball games from Bridgman Friday night.

The Bobcats remained undefeated in boys basketball with a 44-36 win over the Bees, while Brandywine improved to 12-4 overall with a 36-28 victory.

The Brandywine boys team set a new school record for best start to a season regardless of sport with its 14th victory of the year.

The Bobcats (14-0, 7-0 BCS Red) trailed the Bees (3-10, 1-5 BCS Red) 16-14 at halftime.

Brandywine regrouped in the locker room and revved up the offense for the second half, outscoring Bridgman 31-20 to remain undefeated.

Hunter Slaughter scored 15 points for the Bobcats, who also got 10 points from Vinny Peel.

Nick Boyd led the Bees with 10 points.

In girls action, the Bobcats and Bees struggled to find the basket in the opening 16 minutes of play.

Brandywine (12-4, 4-4 BCS Red) hit just 1-of-40 3-point attempts in the game, but managed to hit enough free throws and force enough turnovers to pull out the victory.

The Bobcats led just 11-8 at halftime and the two teams were deadlocked at 16-16 heading into the fourth quarter.

Brandywine outscored Bridgman 20-12 in the final eight.

Zakiyyah Abdula led all scores with 15 points, while the Bobcats also got 12 points from Makenna Bowen.

Lauren Keller led the Bees with nine points.
