The two are suspected of stealing a blue 2010 Jeep Wrangler from the parking lot of Northside Food and Liquor on North Front Street around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The owner of the vehicle told police who responded to the scene that he left his vehicle running after parking it and stopping inside the store. He walked outside moments later to discover his vehicle was missing.

A short time later, an officer with the Pokagon Band Tribal Police noticed a vehicle matching a description of the stolen jeep at the Judge Convenience store, located at M-51 and M-152 north of Dowagiac, occupied by several people. Officers with the Dowagiac department joined the tribal police to confront the suspects.

In the course of the arrest, the 17-year-old teenager was found in possession of a concealed and loaded firearm. Both were detained and lodged at Cass County Jail.

The jeep was eventually turned back over to its owner.

Their next court date will take place at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9.
