PIT count planned for today

Each year, Continuums of Care around the country are required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to conduct a census of who is homeless during the last 10 days of January.
Cass County will be conducting this count today, Jan. 25. In order to accurately capture this snapshot of local homelessness, teams of outreach workers will count and speak with people who are sleeping in shelters as well as places not meant for human habitation.
The Point in Time count, or PIT Count, is an opportunity for members of the public and the media to learn more about homelessness in their own community and find out about the array of services that are being offered to address the issue.
