Squirrel hunt slated for Jan. 29

The fourth annual Hunter’s Rendezvous Squirrel Hunt will begin at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, with a mandatory breakfast of all participants at the Dowagiac Conservation Club.

Breakfast will be available starting at 7 a.m., with chili and hot dos beginning at noon.

Weigh-in of squirrels will be at 4 p.m. sharp at the conservation club. Late arrivals will be disqualified. Statewide hunting with all applicable Michigan hunting rules and regulations will be followed. This is a rimfire rifle or handgun event. No shotguns will be allowed, except for youths 14 and younger. No dogs are allowed.

This is a two-person team event, with an entry fee of $20 per team. A 10-squirrel limit total weight determines winners. Payback will be in cash, and prizes will be based on the number of entries.
