Roundup: Buchanan wins, Niles girls still winless

The Buchanan boys basketball team outscored visiting New Buffalo 13-2 in the opening quarter and never looked back in picking up its first victory of the season.
The Bucks (1-1) led 29-9 at halftime and then cruised home with a 52-34 victory over the Bison.
“Buchanan appeared to be a totally different team as nearly each of their baskets came off an assist,” said Buchanan coach Reid McBeth.
Andrew McGuirt scored a game-high 23 points and had six assists, while Dalton Riddle finished with seven points and nine rebounds.

KALAMAZOO — The Niles girls basketball team continues to struggle as it looks for its first victory of the season.
The Vikings (0-4) were outscored 18-8 in the third quarter as host Kalamazoo Loy Norrix pulled away to a 56-43 win over Niles Tuesday night.
Emily Gaines had 15 points for the Vikings, while Lajan Mitchell added 12.
