VICKSBURG — The Dowagiac wrestling team went 4-1 and Brandywine 3-2 at the Vicksburg Invitational Saturday.

The Chieftains defeated Coloma, Schoolcraft, Martin and Three Rivers.

Decatur was the lone team to defeat Dowagiac.

Brandywine defeated Three Rivers, Martin and Coloma.

Decatur and Schoolcraft posted wins over the Bobcats.

Individual statistics for the Chieftains were unavailable at press time.

Brandywine’s Michael Kachur went 5-0, picking up his 100th career victory in the Coloma match.

Aaron Lauri was also 5-0 on the day. Going 4-1 were Searra Inman, Corbin Eckenberger and Kaci Lintz.

Southwest Michigan Classic

ALLEGAN — The Niles wrestling team placed third at the Southwest Michigan Classic at Allegan High School Saturday.

Lowell won the team championship with 245 points, Lakeshore was second with 177 and Niles third with 151.5.

Edwardsburg was seventh with 91 points.

Mitchell Findeisen was the lone champion for Niles at 145 pounds.

Cade Stephenson was second at 125, while Edwardsburg’s Austin Cline was second at 171.
