BUCHANAN — For the past few years, Buchanan has been close to snapping its long losing streak to BCS Athletic Conference powerhouse Brandywine.

Thursday night, the Bucks finally got the job done.

Buchanan led by eight points at halftime and then withstood a charge by the Bobcats in the second half to hang on to a 32-27 Red Division victory.

The win snapped the Bucks’ 14-game losing streak to Brandywine.

Earning the victory did not come easy for the Bucks, who improved to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the Red Division.

Buchanan built up an 11-point lead only to have the Bobcats (2-2, 0-2 Red) cut it to just a basket twice in the fourth quarter.

The Bucks’ four-year starter, Brooke Wesner led the way with 13 points. Jayla Bibbs added nine points and grabbed a game-high 20 rebounds.

Makenna Bowen led the Bobcats with 11 points.
