Athlete Showcase: Brandywine’s Cassandra Luczkowski

Cassandra Luczkowski is a senior on the Brandywine girls basketball team.

 

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

CL: Being a part of last year’s girls basketball team and making it to the Final Four.

 

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

CL: Losing twice in soccer against Lake Michigan Catholic.

 

What has been a hardship in your life?

CL: Being underestimated in my abilities.

 

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

CL: My heroes are the brave men and women fighting for our country.

 

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

CL: The most nervous part of the game is right before the tip goes up.

 

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

CL: My most embarrassing moment of playing sports was this past Monday when I fell on my face while we were doing a drill and coach said that was enough of that drill for the day.

 

How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?

CL: I try to run every once in awhile to stay in shape.

 

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

CL: I would like to compete in lacrosse.

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

CL: Sports are important to be a part of in high school because it teaches you teamwork, hard work, and responsibility.

 

How would you give away $50,000?

CL: I would give half of it to a charity for underprivileged children and the rest to a charity that protects wild animals from extinction.

 

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

CL: I would want to coach the Kitty Cats team to teach them the ropes.

 

If I did not play sports, I would…?

CL: If I did not play sport, I would focus more on school and getting ready for college and binge watch more shows on Netflix.

 

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

CL: The hardest part about my sport is not fouling.

 

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

CL: I would change the number of fouls you have and what is and what is not a foul.

 

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

CL: The best compliment I have ever received was when I was told that I work really hard when I play.

 

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

CL: Taking my drivers test. Yes I am glad that I did it because now I have my license.

 

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

CL: What really impressed me was last week, my school raised over $2,400 for underprivileged children so they could have a good Christmas.

 

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

CL: Reading because I like to get transformed in a good book.
