Big second half leads Eddies to victory

STURGIS — A balanced scoring attack helped keep the Edwardsburg girls basketball team undefeated Thursday night.

The visiting Eddies had three players in double figure en route to a 61-38 Wolverine Conference win over Sturgis.

The Eddies (2-0, 1-0 Wolverine) outscored the Trojans (0-1, 0-1 Wolverine) 17-4 in the third quarter to turn a six-point halftime advantage into a 50-31 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Edwardsburg led 11-10 after one quarter of play and 33-27 at halftime.

After breaking open the game in the third quarter, the Eddies outscored Sturgis 11-7 in the final eight minutes to earn the lopsided victory.

Alexa Markel and Savannah Dixon share game-high honors with 12 points each. Noelle Kraus added 10 points and Brayden Curtis nine.

Baleigh Brazo and De’Ashia Sanders each had 10 points for the Trojans, who also got six points from Anna Young.

Edwardsburg is back on the hardwood Friday night as they travel to Allegan for another Wolverine Conference contest.
