Michaela Ritschard is a senior on the Edwardsburg girls basketball team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
MR: Winning districts my junior year.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
MR: Performing poorly at regionals.
What has been a hardship in your life?
MR: Having to change schools.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
MR: My mom, because she is so supportive of me always.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
MR: Right when the game is starting.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
MR: Tripping and falling when nobody was around me in the middle of a game.
How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?
MR: I listen to music and motivate myself.
Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?
MR: You will not ever be able to experience it again once they are over.
How would you give away $50,000?
MR: I would give it to someone who needs it.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
MR: Notre Dame women’s basketball.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
MR: possibly be in other clubs or have a job.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
MR: Having practice every day and multiple practices in a day.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
MR: To be able to leave when the ball leaves your hand for a free throw.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
MR: I am hard working and having someone say they look up to me.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
MR: Giving my National Honor Society speech in front of everyone, and yes.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
MR: Giving to others even when they are struggling themselves.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
MR: Shopping. You get new things and it is stress relieving.
