Athlete Showcase: Kassidy Binns

Kassidy Binns is a junior on the Dowagiac volleyball team.

 

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

KB: Making varsity volleyball since I was a freshman.

 

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

KB: Missing a tournament due to getting a concussion my sophomore year.

 

What has been a hardship in your life?

KB: Losing my grandpa to cancer a few months ago.

 

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

KB: My mom. Because she is always there for me no matter what

 

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

KB: When it’s a close game and I’m serving game point.

 

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

KB: Getting blasted from a spike in the face and getting a concussion from it.

How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?

KB: I do setting drills with my setter’s eye stand.

 

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

KB: Nothing. Because I love volleyball.

 

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

KB: It’s a way of getting to know others and learning to work together as a team.

 

How would you give away $50,000?

KB: I would give it to the Cancer Society to help find a cure.

 

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

KB: The Notre Dame volleyball ream. Go Irish!

 

If I did not play sports, I would…?

KB: Probably be lazy.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

KB: It is when I get a bad pass and I have to try and make it a good set to give to my hitter.

 

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

KB: To not have net calls.

 

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

KB: That I am a hard worker.

 

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? And are you glad you did it?

KB: Give a speech in class. Yes, because I got a good grade.

 

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

KB: Watching my little brother helping an elderly lady at the grocery store.

 

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

KB: Playing volleyball. Because I really enjoy being able to do what I love with my friends.
