Athlete Showcase: Edwardsburg’s Austin Cline

Austin Cline is a senior on the Edwardsburg football team.

 

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

AC: Going to semi-state for football twice.

 

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

AC: Never had one. You learn from everything.

 

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

AC: Coach (Kevin) Bartz. He is always there for me through everything.

 

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

AC: Whenever I drop the ball on a pass that should have been caught.

 

How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?

AC: I just lift weights and run.

 

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

AC: Wrestling and baseball.

 

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

AC: It builds who you are as a person.

 

How would you give away $50,000?

AC: Give it to people in need.

 

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

AC: I would chose Edwardburg because they are great people.

sports, I would…?

AC: Be really smart and study a lot.

 

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

AC: Catch a football.

 

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

AC: No flags for hitting.

 

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

AC: When coach says “good game.”

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

AC: Plying in the semifinals, and yes I am glad I did it.

 

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

AC: I like to go hunting. It is nice being in the woods by yourself.
