BENTON HARBOR — Less than a week after the ballots are cast for the next U.S. president, the co-host of Fox News Channel’s “The Five” and former White House press secretary Dana Perino will address The Economic Club of Southwestern Michigan with a talk at 7:25 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Lake Michigan College’s Mendel Center.
Doors to the theater’s Upton Hall will open at 5:30 p.m., while the main stage will open at 6 p.m. Member and individual meeting tickets are now available, and can be purchased by calling (269) 927-1221 or ordering online at TheEconClub.com/BoxOffice.
Because of Perino’s popularity on the fifth-most watched show on cable, organizers urge members and the general public to secure their tickets early.
The Mendel Center is located at 2755 E. Napier Ave., Benton Harbor.
Perino will give her post-election commentary in a talk entitled, “Politics Right Now.”
Known as the “voice of reason,” she has proven to be undaunted by the complex issues and tough questions the next four years will present, organizers said.
Prior to joining “The Five,” Perino served as the voice of the White House. She was the first Republican woman in U.S. history to serve as press secretary and was widely respected in George W. Bush’s administration.
She joined Bush’s staff as spokesperson for the Justice Department right after the 9/11 attacks and a year later became press secretary. Bush said Perino made sure he was never surprised by a question.
In 2010, President Obama appointed Perino to serve on the Broadcasting Board of Governors, which oversees Voice of America. This complemented her passion for advocating for women’s rights and maternal health
in Africa.
Perino also has started Minute Mentoring, a program that offers professional guidance to women starting their careers, and Companions for Heroes which matches rescue animals with first responders and veterans managing post-traumatic stress.
Memberships to The Economic Club are still available and offer the benefit of guaranteed seating at the next four meetings as well as member discounts on ticket prices. Information about purchasing memberships, member tickets and single meeting tickets is available at TheEconClub.com/BoxOffice.
