Senior Katelyn Mariann Boyer was crowned the 60th Miss Edwardsburg during the Edwardsburg Youth Scholarship Pageant in the performing arts Center Saturday night.

Boyer, 17, is the daughter of Timothy and Tamara Boyer. She will go on to represent Edwardsburg in the Miss Blossomtime pageant in March.

Upon her crowning, she dedicated her title and her year of service to her belated grandfather and one of her close friends, Makayla McKenzie.

McKenzie was killed in May of this year in an automobile crash at the intersection of Dailey Road and Pine Lake street.

Other members of the Miss Edwardsburg 2017 court include first runner-up to Miss Edwardsburg, Nicole Byrd, the daughter of Victoria Ardnt; and second runner-up and Miss Congeniality Amber Barnosky, the daughter of Maureen and Don Barnosky.

The Miss Edwardsburg pageant also crowned Miss Teen Edwardsburg Carlee Burger, Mr. Teen Edwardsburg Cole Hoven, Miss Pre-Teen Edwardsburg Baylee Davis, Mr. Pre-Teen Edwardsburg Dylan Garris, Edwardsburg Princess Kenley Weston and Edwardsburg Prince Jayden Garris.

This year’s Blossomtime theme is “If it’s a B its Blossomtime.”

Edwardsburg represented the theme with a Broadway set designed by Jennifer McKenzie in honor of her late daughter, who would have competed in this year’s pageant for the Miss Edwardsburg title.

Makayla was an active pageant participant and was honored at the pageant with a tribute video, her name on the contestants’ T-shirts and a large dedication in the pageant program.
