I first met Mark Herman in 1993 when I moved back to Cass County from Chicago and joined Mark Westrate’s office in Dowagiac.
During that time Mark Herman worked as President of the Cass County Bar Association and worked in private practice in the following areas, criminal law, domestic relations, real estate, decedent estates, bankruptcy, business organizations, personal injury, social security disability, contracts, civil litigation, adoptions, juvenile delinquency and neglect abuse, debtor-creditor, driver license restoration, guardianships, and municipal law.
For 14 years Mark served as probate court administrator and attorney referee and served under two judges, the honorable Herbert E. Philipson and honorable Susan L. Dobrich.
Mark also served as prosecutor for the Village of Cassopolis for 10 years, Cass County assistant prosecuting attorney four years under prosecutor Dobrich. He further served as Cass County circuit law clerk under the honorable Michael E. Dodge, and is currently a board member of Woodlands Behavioral Health Care.
Community activities include Cass County Youth Council as 14-year chair, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars which was distributed in Cass County to help assist programs and services through Cass County Schools, Community Mental Health, Department of Health and Human Services, Cass County ISD, Cass County Family/Juvenile Court, Cass County Prosecutor’s Office, Cass County Parks, Southwestern Michigan College, YMCA, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Council on Aging, Cass County Fair, as well as partnering with many local agencies and programs to provide funding for community programs.
Further, he is involved in Michigan Children’s Trust Fund, Family Center, Cass County Coalition Against Domestic Violence and concealed weapons permit instructor.
On the other hand Mark’s opponent has spent most of the last 14 years commuting to Lansing and has lost contact with the citizens who are the heart and soul of Cass County.
I urge you to vote for Mark Herman on Nov. 8.
