Congressman Upton’s lack of communication troubling

The letter in the Sept. 22 issue of the Dowagiac Daily News from Cindy Miller, in response to the non-responses from Rep. Fred Upton, hit the nail on the head.

As a retired federal employee, I have written to Upton regarding pending or proposed bills affecting federal retirees, but he has never expressed an opinion, pro or con, so I have stopped wasting my time. His return letters are generic, and frequently do not mention the issues that I am concerned about.

Members of our local chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees have experienced the same frustrations. We have been unable to secure a short meeting with him when he is in town so that we can present our concerns in person.

Yes, he is “too busy.”

I will be keeping this in mind when I vote in November.
