The Beckwith Theatre Company is hosting auditions for Noel Cöward’s comedy “Blithe Spirit,” from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16 and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17 and 18 at the playhouse, located at 100 New York Ave., Dowagiac.

The play is about a fussy, cantankerous novelist, Charles Condomine, who is haunted by the ghost of his late first wife, the clever and insistent Elvira, after she is called up by a visiting “happy medium.” With Charles’ current wife Ruth added to the mix, the clash of personalities (worldly and other) wreaks havoc in this comedic show.

Actors of all ages are welcome to audition. People should be prepared to cold read from the script and participate in acting exercises.

Prepared monologues and resumes are welcome, but not required.

Roles are available for five women and two men.
