Village, marina owners working on solution for Lindbergh Park

The Village of Edwardsburg and the owners of Starboard Choice Marine are in discussions about what to do with Lindbergh Park.

The small park, which sits next to Starboard Choice Marine has been there for more than 50 years.

However, when the property on which Starboard Choice sits was surveyed it was discovered that the village did not own that land.

The park has been taped off and no trespassing signs have been posted since spring when the marina hosted its open house.

“The village and myself are trying to come to an agreement,” Steve Peterson owner of Starboard Choice Marine said. “The village and I have had meetings, that is all I can say at this time. We are not fighting or arguing over it. We just have to get things
worked out.”

Steve and Andy Peterson founded Starboard Choice Marine in downtown Mishawaka in 2004.

The pair saw a need for a marina on Pleasant Lake and purchased the former Pleasant Lake Resort in October 2015 and opened for business in the spring of this year on Dailey Road.

An open house was hosted in April for the business.

Edwardsburg Village President Jacque Tighe also said that she was limited in what she could say about the park.

“The new marina owners own where it is taped off,” she said. “We have used that for more than 50 years. We are working on coming up with a solution that is good for both parties.”

No timetable has been set for resolution of the park’s future.
