Published 9:25 am Tuesday, August 30, 2016

The Bend of the River Conservation Club in Niles will be offering instruction in the basics of archery skills, safety, equipment identification and proper form next month. This is an eight-week course that costs $40 per person eight years of age or older.

No equipment is needed as the club will provide equipment for people who need it.

Students can bring their own equipment.

Registration is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 7 or Monday, Sept. 12, prior to the start of the first class at 6:30 p.m.

Organizers said beginning archery sessions give the new archer the foundations necessary to properly execute an archery shot with consistent accuracy.

Sessions will focus on safety, basic techniques and drills. Coaches will give archers increasing challenges at greater distances, but each archer will advance at his or her own pace.

Sessions regularly include games to help keep the process fun, organizers said.

Class sizes will range from a minimum of six to a maximum of 12 students.

All classes will take place at the Bend of the River Conservation Club, which is located at 900 Mayflower Road in Niles. For more information, visit the website borcc.org or call Gary Haines at (269) 695-3610.
