The Dowagiac golf team hosted the Wolverine Conference for the third jamboree of the season at Indian Lake Hills Golf Course Monday.

Otsego picked up the victory as it shot 190 as a team, while Plainwell and Sturgis both shot 198.

The Chieftains finished third with a team total of 219.

Dowagiac was led by freshmen Rebecca Franklin, who finished with a 46, and Greta Whitaker, who shot a career-best 53.

Her previous best was 59.

Luda Dickson-French shot 58, Ally Hale 62 and Micaela Ruff 71.

“The freshmen played pretty good,” Dowagiac coach Bob Turner said. “I think the other girls are trying too hard. But 219 is still better than what we are used to. I think a couple of the girls were disappointed in what they shot, but that tells me that they care and they are trying.

“We are heading in the right direction I think.”

The Wolverine Conference will play at Otsego at 8:30 a.m. and Plainwell at 1 p.m. today.
