With the first day of school approaching quickly, students across Berrien County will have the opportunity to meet their teachers, tour their new classrooms and practice their locker combinations during orientation sessions at Brandywine, Buchanan and Niles school districts beginning next week.

The first day of school is Tuesday, Sept. 6, the day after Labor Day.

Some schools, including Niles and Brandywine, offer special orientation sessions for students who will be new to the district for the 2016/17 school year.

Light refreshments will be offered at most of the orientation nights.

Below is a schedule of orientations by school:

 

Brandywine

• Seventh grade orientation — 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the middle/senior high school

• Fourth grade open house — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 30 at Brandywine Elementary School

• Fifth grade open house — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 at Brandywine Elementary School

• New student orientation grades eight to 12 — 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 in the high school gymnasium

• Third grade open house — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 at Brandywine Elementary School

• Merritt Elementary School welcome back to school night — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1

• Back to school night for grades 8-12 — 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the middle/senior high school

• Back to school night for sixth grade — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the middle/senior high school

• Brandywine Innovation Academy open house — 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 at Brandywine Innovation Academy

Buchanan

• Seventh grade orientation — 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Buchanan Middle School

• Sixth grade orientation — 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Buchanan Middle School

• Fifth grade orientation — 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Buchanan Middle School

• Eighth grade orientation — 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Buchanan Middle School

• Ottawa building open house — 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31

• Moccasin building open house — 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31

• Parent nights from students in grades 9 to 11 — 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13

Niles
