Martin’s Super Markets is now offering a service where shoppers can order groceries online and then pick them up at the door — all without getting out of the car.

The service, known as Martin’s Groceries-To-Go, has been launched at the company’s Granger store located at 7355 Heritage Square in Granger, Indiana. The service will expand to many other Martin’s stores in the near future.

When asked if Niles is on the list of stores that will eventually offer the service, Cindy Kaplan, of Martin’s marketing, said there is no list currently beyond Heritage Square and the Concord Mall location in Elkhart, Indiana.

Martin’s provided the following instructions for using the new service:

1. Log on to www.martinsgroceriestogo.com. Or, download the Martin’s Groceries-To-Go app for a smart phone. It is available now for iPhone and scheduled for release for Android in late August.

2. Create an account.

3. Choose Martin’s Heritage Square as preferred store.

4. Begin shopping by item name or category, shop via the weekly circular, or simply scan items from your pantry when you use the Groceries-To-Go app.

5. Review order.

6. Choose an available day and time of pickup at the Heritage Square store.

7. Pay for the order with a secure payment system built into the online site.

Groceries-To-Go customers will receive an email confirmation once when their order has been received and once again when their order has been shopped by the store’s Personal Shoppers.

Upon customer arrival to pick up an order, they need only park in specially designated parking spaces located on the east side of the store and then text or call the pickup ready number clearly visible on the signs. A personal shopper will bring out the customer’s groceries promptly and load them into the customer’s vehicle.

Martin’s officials said they are committed to expanding this service to other stores in the very near future.

“Our customers have been asking us to launch an online ordering and pickup option for some time,” according to Amy McClellan, Martin’s vice president of sales and marketing. “We’ve invested in the technology and skilled personnel both behind the scenes and in the store in an effort to make this launch the easiest and most convenient online grocery experience in the region. And, we’re committed to continuing to improve and expand the process as we go forward.”

Pharmacy prescriptions, alcohol and tobacco products are not available for online ordering.

The Groceries-To-Go service fee is $4.99 per order. Currently, Martin’s is waiving the service fee for the first two orders picked up.

Martin’s Super Markets was founded in 1947 and currently has 22 stores in South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger, Elkhart, Goshen, Plymouth, Nappanee, Logansport and Warsaw, Indiana, and Niles, Stevensville and St. Joseph, Michigan.
