Conservation District to host election/meeting next month

JONES — The Cass County Conservation District will host its annual meeting and director’s election from 7 to 8 p.m. Sept. 27, at Griner Farms, located at 13120 Born St., in Jones.

Beginning Aug. 13, 45 days prior to the date of the annual meeting, absentee ballots will be made available for voting in this election. People can requesting these ballots in writing to the Conservation District Office, located at 1127 E. State St., Cassopolis, MI 49031, by emailing requests to korie.blyveis@macd.org or by calling (269) 228-7076 during the regular business hours of the District, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Absent voting ballots must be received by the Cass County Conservation District by Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 4:30 p.m. to be counted in the 2016 annual election.

Residents are individuals of legal age who can demonstrate residency in the Conservation District (Cass County) via one piece of identification.

 

Club hosting hunter safety classes

DOWAGIAC — The Dowagiac Conservation Club will host its next batch of hunter safety classes from Aug. 25-27.

Signup will take place from 6-7 p.m. Aug. 17. There is no charge for this class.

People must have a birth certificate with them at the time of registration, and must attend all three classes to receive a Hunter Safety Card.

Classes are from 6 to 9 p.m. on the 25 and 26 and from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the 27.

Classes will be at the Dowagiac Conservation Club, 2 miles north of Dowagiac on M-51 North.
