“This has been an exciting season and having the opportunity to win the first half division title makes it even more special,” Joe Hart, president of the South Bend Cubs said. “We have a great fan base and look forward to the support they will provide our team when the playoffs start. We have had fans asking when they can purchase their playoff tickets. The excitement is very apparent.”

The Midwest League playoffs begin with an opening round best-of-three series. The Division Championship Series is also a best-of-three format with the winners advancing to the Midwest League Championship Series, which is best-of-five.

If South Bend and West Michigan split the first two games, a third and deciding contest will be played at Four Winds Field at 7:35 p.m. Sept. 9.

Tickets for Game 3 or any future playoff games for the Cubs will not be available until necessary.

The Cubs are the Class A minor league affiliate for the Chicago Cubs.

In its 28-year history, South Bend has won five Midwest League championships and 12 divisional titles.

The last Midwest League title was won in 2005, while the last divisional championship was won in 2008. Both were won when the team was the Class A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
