Vote ‘yes’ for Cass County COA millage

Published 9:39 am Thursday, July 14, 2016

On Aug. 2, Cass County residents will have the opportunity to vote on the millage proposition for the Cass County Council on Aging (COA). Many of your readers are Cass County residents.

Approximately 25 percent (one in four) of Cass County residents are over the age of 60. This segment of the population is growing quickly.

The COA plays an important role in meeting the needs of these seniors through services like Meals on Wheels, Adult Day Services for individuals with dementia, in-home-care, medical transportation to out of county appointments and more.

These services support people in all parts of Cass County. They are often the only thing keeping recipients out of a nursing home.

The COA has programs that build wheelchair ramps, provide Medicare/Medicaid counseling, assist seniors with tax preparation and help in other meaningful ways. Other COA programs provide educational opportunities, enhanced health and wellness and social outlets to keep seniors active and engaged.

Cass County residents, along with your family and friends, join me in voting “yes” for this issue on Aug. 2.
