Brandywine wins 10U Cal Ripken State Tournament

The Brandywine 10U All-Stars defeated Howard Township 11-1 in the championship game of the Cal Ripken Michigan State Tournament Sunday.

In reaching the championship game at Pepper Martin Park, Brandywine defeated Howard Township 15-5 on Friday and Alpena 13-9 on Saturday.

In the title game, Brock Dye went the distance on the mound and was named the Most Valuable Player.

Kevin Roberts tripled in the second inning for the Brandywine All-Stars.

In Saturday’s semifinal, Dye hit a home run in the opening inning and then the all-stars scored eight times in the second inning to blow the game wide open.

Jaremiah Palmer and Devon Flanery both pitched for Brandywine.

Dye was named the game’s MVP.

In its opening game of the tournament on Friday, Kaiden Rieth tripled in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.

Conner Dye and Flanery handled the pitching duties with Conner Dye being named the MVP.

The Brandywine All-Stars, who are coached by David Schoff Jr., Travis Bolyard and Mike Dye, are now qualified to compete in the Ohio Valley Regional, which will be played in Lake Cumberland, Kentucky beginning July 20.

The Brandywine 11U and 12U teams were defeated in the championship games at Fireman’s Park Sunday.

Howard Township won the 12U, 8U and 9U state championships, while the 10U team finished second and the 11U team third.
