An exciting time for Sister Lakes

Warm summer weather has brought hundreds of people to Dowagiac’s sister community in recent months, but we are especially excited about some special guests who are here to stay.

Summer vacationers and year-long residents alike have welcomed two new restaurants with open arms this summer. Dockside Dan’s debuted just in time for the start of summer, as Memorial Day travelers made their way to the lake. Since then, the restaurant has been a hit with people from all around the area, especially boaters.

Sister Lakes Brewing Co. opened in June and people from all over the region have flocked to Cass County’s first microbrewery to test what is on tap.

It is always exciting to see the summer community come to life during the warm season, but it is especially invigorating to see people investing in Sister Lakes all year long.

Upon the opening of the business, we were able to see just how much blood, sweat and tears the Schied and Morin families invested in their businesses, and judging by their popularity, the hard work paid off.

It takes vital members of our community like the Schied and Morin families who are invested in the village for it to thrive. With the addition of two new dining options, people who have never visited Sister Lakes are exposed to the great community that it is, and those who are familiar with the area have all the more reason to come back and visit.

When new businesses draw new customers, the existing commerce can only stand to benefit.

Sister Lakes’ economy and population certainly seem to be on the rise, so who knows what new businesses will decide to plant their roots in Cass County thanks to the success of those who loved the village enough to plant their roots there?

We are excited to see these lakeside restaurants continue to grow, and thankful they chose Cass County as their place to serve.
