Cass County COA goes the extra mile

Cass County residents will have the chance on Aug. 2, to vote for the millage for the Cass County Council on Aging (COA).

I have been involved with the COA for several  years, delivering Meals on Wheels, using the fitness center, and various other activities.  Through these experiences, I have seen firsthand how important their services are for seniors throughout Cass County.

The COA’s programs and services reach people in all corners of Cass County.  Their services include Meals on Wheels, in-home care, medical transportations, and many more.  Words that are frequently used by the COA’s clients include “lifesaver,” “Godsend” and “thankful.”

The COA goes the extra mile to support the large population of older adults in our region.

This year, the COA seeks a small increase to a full one mill.  This increase will account for rising expenses and allow the COA to keep programs and services affordable for area seniors.  This will have only a small effect on homeowners.  For example, if your home has an assessed value of $50,000 the increase will cost you less than $5 per year.

This small amount for homeowners will help so many people who rely on the COA’s support.

There are almost 13,000 senior citizens in Cass County, and they are relying on you to vote “YES” on Aug. 2.

Please join me in support of this important organization.
