RedBud races shake up standings

While Ken Roczen solidified his overall lead in the 450 Class, the 250 Class had quite a shake up at RedBud Saturday.

Cooper Webb of Newport, North Carolina, swept the motos and took the overall lead away from Joey Savatgy, of Thomasville, Georgia.

Webb left Buchanan with a nine-point lead over Savatgy as the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Series moves to Southwick, Massachusetts.

“It’s definitely not easy (to win). The nationals are not easy,” Webb said. “It got rough in that second moto. We all had good starts, so I figured it was going to be a battle. And it was. Everyone was riding well and I knew they’d be right there. We’re all going fast and everyone wants to win, so it’s not like you’re going to dominate. Luckily, I was able to get it done today.”

“We’ve been doing good work over the whole year,” Roczen said. “I have to give it up to my team because I went from riding maybe the worst bike I’ve had all year, we made some changes [going into the moto], to the best bike I’ve had all year (in the second moto). We crushed it in that second moto, and I couldn’t be happier right now.”

An engine change between motos could not slow down Roczen’s dominance as he has now won 10 out of 11 motos and has a commanding 53-point lead over Eli Tomac,
