Many people turned out for the Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual celebration of Independence Day Friday at the Apple Festival Fairgrounds in Niles.

Children played games, sped down inflatable slides and walked in the event’s first youth parade prior to the main event: fireworks at dusk.

Aside from the fireworks, the most popular attractions appeared to be the bounce house area and the elephant ears vending trailer, both of which produced long lines of people waiting their turn for fun or a tasty treat.

The event was made possible through volunteer work, members of the Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerce and donations, including a $2,500 gift from the city.
