It is time to shout “REDBUUUUUUD!”

The sixth round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Series sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing will be at the circuit’s best known track — RedBud MX in Buchanan Saturday.

RedBud has become an Independence Day weekend spectacular and marks the midway point of the 2016 season.

It all began in 1972 when Gene and Nancy Ritchie purchased the property with the idea of building a motocross track. Gene passed away in February of this year.

A year later, RedBud began holding races and had its first AMA national race in 1974.

Through a series of renovations, RedBud has become the track that every motocross rider wants to win at. It’s most famous feature is LaRocco’s Leap, which is the tallest jump on the circuit and was named after Mike LaRocco, who was dominant not only at RedBud, but in the AMA.

This year, one of the best fields to ever decend upon Buchanan, is expected to hit the track.

Ken Roczen, who is the 450 Class leader will face challenges from Eli Tomac, Justin Barcia, Trey Canard, Blake Baggett and Marvin Musquin.

Joey Savatgy leads the 250 Class standings heading to RedBud. He will be challenged by Cooper Webb, who won last weekend’s event in Tennessee, Jeremy Martin, Alex Martin and Zach Osborne.

The weekend will begin Thursday with open practice. Amateur races will be held July 1 through July 3.

General admission tickets are $45 for adults and $20 for children (6-11).

VIP access (general admission add-on) is $175 for adults and $85 for children.

Pit passes (early entry) are $15 (9 a.m. to noon) and may be purchased online or at the track, or all-day (8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.) for $50 and can only be purchased online.

Tickets are available at www.ProMotocross.com.
