Seventy-six students are scheduled to receive their diplomas this weekend during the graduation ceremony for the Brandywine High School Class of 2016.

The school’s 54th annual commencement is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 5, inside the Brandywine High School gymnasium.

Of the 76 graduates, 66 plan on attending a college or university, two will join the U.S. Armed Forces and eight will begin an apprenticeship or enter the workforce, according to statistics provided by the school district.

Student speeches will be given by co-valedictorians Alyssa Bolen, Hunter Janowiak, Donald Sachman and Joshua Youngs; and salutatorian Kaylee Chambers.

Ambrosia Neldon, a member of the Brandywine High School Class of 2009, will be the guest speaker. She is the managing editor of Leader Publications.

Speeches will also be given by Brandywine Community Schools Supt. John Jarpe and Brandywine school board president Janis Exner.

The ceremony will include musical performances by the high school choir and band.

Kori Bunch is the senior class president and Chambers is the vice president.

The class flower is a blue dahlia, and its colors are lavender and white. Its song is “See You Again,” by Wiz Khalifa.

The class motto is, “There are far, far better things ahead than we leave behind,” from author C.S. Lewis.
