Edwardsburg sets new school record with 30 wins

Host Edwardsburg set a new school record for victories in a single season with a sweep of Niles Wednesday.

The Eddies defeated the Vikings 3-0 and 4-1 to improve to 30-5, surpassing last year’s record of 28 victories.

In the opening game, Ali Strycker tossed a three-hitter with five strikeouts and just one walk.

Edwardsburg finished with seven hits, including doubles by Michaela Ritschard, Rileigh Disher and Layne Stinnett.

In the nightcap, Ashley Pion picked up the win with relief help from Strycker.

The Vikings led 1-0 after a half inning of play only to find themselves trailing 2-1 at the end of the first.

Edwardsburg added singe runs in the third and fifth innings to complete the scoring.

The Eddies once again had seven hits. Lexi Clark was 2-for-3 for the Eddies. Kaylee Ryker added a double.

Addison Davies had two hits, while Brooke Timm and Aynslee Myer both doubled.
