Niles DDA Main Street is looking for participants for a new art show that will add a little life and color to the city’s alleyways.

The art show, called “Flights of Fantasy,” will feature doors of all shapes and sizes covered in artwork depicting fantasy themes and elements created by artists in the greater Niles community.

Amateur and professional artists alike are encouraged to join in the show. Niles DDA Main Street is also looking for people willing to donate doors to the project.

Below are the rules and regulations:

• Doors must be ready to be placed by Saturday, June 11.

• All art will be displayed within the alleyways of downtown Niles.

• The doors will remain outside on display in the alleys throughout downtown through November.

• Artists must supply own materials to finish the art piece.

• Niles DDA Main Street will attempt to acquire doors for those who need them.

• Niles DDA Main Street is not responsible for any costs associated with decorating the piece other than the sponsor/artist recognition plaque.

• Materials used to finish the art piece must have one coat of primer exterior grade paint and two coats of exterior water based Spar urethane/varnish.

• Materials must be safe and durable enough for the public to touch.

• All doors will be sold in a silent auction at an alley event in August. Proceeds will be split 50/50 with the artist and Niles DDA Main Street.

• Art must be family friendly. Libelous, slanderous, or designs showing social disrespect will not be permitted.

• Niles Main Street DDA is not responsible for anything damaged or stolen.
