SOUTH HAVEN — Host South Haven held off a late Dowagiac rally to earn a 2-1 Wolverine Conference win over the Chieftains Wednesday night.

Andrea Rayas scored in the 40th minute to give the Rams a 1-0 halftime advantage.

South Haven made it 2-0 in the 44th minute as Lexy Aldana scored.

Chieftain freshman Kellyn Daly scored in the 60th minute off an assist from Anayda Lucio to make it 2-1.

Grace Younger stopped 15 shots for Dowagiac, while Jo Uckele had eight saves for the Rams.

“In a game where we had more possession, it was two costly mistakes that ended up putting us on the wrong end of the result,” Dowagiac coach Ryan Haines said. “Unfortunately that has been the story of our season so far, as teams like South Haven are good at capitalizing on mistakes. This one got away from us, we will use this game to get us ready for Buchanan.”

Dowagiac hosted the Bucks in a non-conference match Thursday.
