Chieftains fifth at mini jamboree

Dowagiac’s Leroy Lewis won the boys high jump and Nijah Russell the girls 100- and 200-meters Tuesday in a Mini Wolverine Conference Jamboree track and field meet at Dowagiac.

Lewis cleared 5 feet, 10 inches and Russell was timed in 12.84 seconds.

The Chieftains placed fifth in both the boys and girls team competition. Vicksburg came in first among boys squads and Three Rivers first among girls.

Russell was clocked at 12.84 in the 100 and 28.46 in the 200.

Dowagiac goes to the Allegan Invitational Friday, April 29.
