Otsego continues to dominate Wolverine golf

PLAINWELL — Defending Wolverine Conference champion Otsego continues to dominate the league golf standings.

The Bulldogs have won all five league jamborees after sweeping both events at Lake Doster Golf Club Wednesday.

Otsego shot 157 in both rounds.

Vicksburg finished second with a 171 in the first jamboree hosted by the Bulldogs, while Edwardsburg was fourth (181) and Dowagiac seventh (194).

Edwardsburg finished second in the second jamboree, hosted by Plainwell with a 178. Dowagiac was sixth with a 194.

VICKSBURG — Visiting Dowagiac did not have any answers in its Wolverine Conference soccer opener at Vicksburg Wednesday night.

The Chieftains were only able to get one shot on goal in an 8-0 loss to the Bulldogs.

Vicksburg, behind a pair of goals from Maddison Prebenda, led 5-0 at halftime.

Vicksburg’s eighth goal in the 61st minute ended the match due to the mercy rule.

 

SMAC golf

KALAMAZOO — The Niles golf team placed fifth at the SMAC West Division jamboree at the Moors Wednesday.

Lakeshore won the jamboree with a team score of 156.

Logan Steffes of Lakeshore and Alex Lubeck of St. Joseph tied for medalist honors with a round of 37. Niles was led by Riley Delinski’s 39.
