Mr. DeVerne Jacob “Bud” Bucher
, 88, of Poca, West Virginia, passed away March 8, 2016, in the Hubbard Hospice House West.
He was born May 30, 1927, in Michigan and was the son of the late Ernest Bucher and Gertrude Tolliver. He was also preceded in death by his sister Betty and his loving wife of 70 years, “Jennifer.”
He was a World War II Veteran serving in the Navy on a mine sweeper. He enjoyed gardening, wood crafting and fixing things. He prided himself in being a hard worker. During his working years he worked for Simplicity Pattern Co., the Railroad, Hicks Radio, FMC and Lowes. After his retirement he continued to work as part time “handyman” at Ear, Nose Throat Associates, Charleston.
He is survived by his only daughter, Kathryn Ann Bailey of Poca; three grandsons Gilbert Bailey, wife Erin and daughters Virginia Lorelei and Isadora Kathryn of Charlotte, North Carolina, Scott Bailey and girlfriend Kristi Amendola of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Kenneth Bailey and wife Kristen, of Poca.
As per his wishes, his body was cremated and there will be no services. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
