Vikings snap six-game streak with win at Portage Northern

PORTAGE — Visiting Niles snapped a six-game losing streak with a 46-44 win over Portage Northern in SMAC West Division girls basketball Friday.

The Vikings (6-9, 3-4 SMAC West) trailed 35-31 heading into the fourth quarter, but outscored the Huskies 15-9 in the final eight minutes to rally for the victory.

Maya Brookins and Jazmin Brann both scored 10 points, while Emily Gaines added nine points.

Kayla Blett and Colleen O’Keefe both scored 12 points to lead Portage Northern, which dropped to 2-12 and 0-7 in the SMAC West.
