Dowagiac picks up road win at Sturgis

STURGIS — The Dowagiac boys basketball team went on the road and picked up a Wolverine Conference South Division win over Sturgis Friday night.
The Chieftains (10-1, 7-1 South) outscored the Trojans (5-5, 4-5 South) 18-13 in the fourth quarter to pick up a 64-54 victory.
Dowagiac led 13-12 after one and 28-18 at the half.
Sturgis outscored Dowagiac 23-18 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 46-41 heading into the final eight minutes of play.
Keoante Blackamore score 21 points to lead the Chieftains, who also got 15 points from Brandon Winchester-Jones.
Ryan Schuler, the Trojans’ 6-10 center, led all scorers with 23 points. Matthe Polzin added 11 points.
