That’s more like it.

Putting a disappointing tournament performance in the rear view mirror, Cassopolis cruised to a pair of BCS Athletic Conference wrestling victories Wednesday in front of a home crowd who came to salute the program’s seniors — Nick Baker, Daniel Deubner, A.J. Green, Takuma Hamano, Colin Kelley, Dillon Richey and Reece West.

“We came out with a little tenacity tonight,” Cassopolis coach Kenyon Ellison said after watching his squad top Parchment 73-6 and Comstock 66-15. “Last weekend, we had a poor showing (at the Comstock Super Dual). “We came to life a little bit. We still have more work to do, but like the Cassopolis Rangers tonight and I was really impress with that.”

Two-time winners for Cassopolis on the mat were Deubner (two first-period pins at 160) and A.J. Green (decision and pin at 189).

Green trailed 1-0 to Parchment’s Adrian Meade going into the third period. The Ranger then got an escape and then executed a double-leg takedown with 35 seconds to go for a 3-1 win. Green was up 13-1 when he got a third-period pin against Comstock.

Kaleb Anderson (first-period pin at 103), Kelley (first-period pin at 125), John Lindardakis (third-period pin at 215) and West (13-5 major decision at 285) triumphed on the mat for the Rangers against Parchment.

West tossed his way to three takedowns and earned three near fall points.

Richey (third-period pin at 135), Baker (first-period pin at 145) won on the mat for Cassopolis against Comstock.

The Panthers and Colts both forfeited seven of 14 weight classes to the Rangers.

Next up for Cassopolis is the Greater Berrien County Invitational Saturday, Jan. 30, at St. Joseph.
